Aliza
The weekend had been a long one. I was all unpacked at Jonas's house. I was just ready for the school week to start so that it could be the weekend again. I decide to lay across my bed and listen to music. As I listened to music, I thought about Shantel. It’s crazy that the whole time we were together, we were waiting for this to happen so we could be a couple out in the open. Now I’m free to love her openly but we are not together. I can’t even say that I don’t miss her because I do. I want to forgive her but at the same time, I want to not forgive her because she played me. She was lying to me and everything. Maybe she was stressed with everything going on with me and that girl was a stress reliever. I don’t know. As I thought about it tears welled up in my eyes. I quickly wiped them away before they dropped. I decided to just take a nap and let other thoughts consume me.
“Liza!” I jumped out of my sleep when Jonas called and shook me.
“Huh?”
“Come to the living room. We need to talk.”
“Okay. I’ll be out in a minute,” I said as I walked in the bathroom. I was glad to have my own bathroom in my room. I hated sharing with other people because I’m a neat freak. After I was done in there, I grabbed my phone and walked out the room. I walked downstairs and was surprised when I saw my mom sitting there.
“Hello Aliza.”
“Hi. What are you doing here?” I asked as I sat across from her.
“I wanted to talk to you about something.” She paused. “I’m leaving your father.”
“Good for you but why?” I asked and she went and told me a whole story. I looked at her shockingly. My dad wasn’t Jonas's dad. Wow! “So that’s why you let him abuse me? Because you was scared of him?”
“What you mean abuse?” Jonas jumped in.
“He used to beat me. I mean beat me bad. That’s why I hated confrontation and fighting. People think I’m a punk and I’m soft but I just don’t like it because of him. He the reason I like girls. He scared me to think all men was like that. I don’t have to worry about a female doing anything like that since we both females. I’m actually scared of him. Everyone always yelled at me and asked why I never told y’all that I was gay. I would have dreams that he would try and beat the lesbian out of me. I hated that you had no backbone to say anything. You would sit there.”
“I’m sorry. I was kind of scared of him too. He used to do me the same way Aliza. When he hit you, he hit me. He was mad that I wasn’t beating you too. He would always say that a wife follows a husband’s lead. And sadly he believed everything he said.
